Cobra R brake upgrade

Please don't do that! Why pay a grand on upgrading brakes, and lose stopping capablities by putting on cheaper rubber. You will just want to buy nicer tires in the near future. Get a set of nice used 03 wheels (easy to find because a lot of guys upgrade) and used the saved money to put some good fat tires on their. Are you racing this car at all?

michelin pilot sport cups are some of the highest quality tyres currently made. they only last 3-5k miles though, so thats why i want some "cheaper" rubber for street tires. i plan on open track events mostly. i was thinking regular pilot sport's, MXV4s, kumho 716s, or sumitomo HTRZ IIs for street tyres. i get about 10% off of tyres and dont pay shipping on any set that i choose. for the pilot sport cups, i only plan on getting 3 or 4 track events out of them. the michelins will be for pleasure only. i only plan on road racing the car. drag racing is a total waste of time for me personally. the suspension i will go with is the Maximum Motorsports Maximum Grip package the only difference will be i will use a Kenny Brown rear STB.

nope, if used properly you get about 3-5k out of Michelin Pilot Sport Cups. they are DOT legal, however the compound is super sticky and they only come with about 5/32s tread on them. Michelin also recommends running 1-3 degrees front negative camber to get the maximum performance out of the tyres.

Those tires are $300 a piece...unless you mean "cheap" by poor performance ...but I thought the Pilots were good rubber  Haven't tried them yet, so I dunno.

Wasn't aware of what quality these tires are too. Companies change the names of their lines of tires too often to keep up with. He just made them sound like a sacrificing quality for bottom line cost. I just meant don't buy crap tires to say a few bucks if you are going to upgrade brakes for that much money. For used stuff I'd avoid except like I said and someone else said just wheels and even then make sure they are in excellent condition. Sorry for my confusion on the tire deal though.

no worries dude. ya the pilot sports are sooo nice. i got to ride in a fox body that was setup for road racing with those tyres and omg it was heaven.

its annoying at my work cause so many of the other people that are into cars are just into drag racing. they all ask me what my car does in a 1/4 and i say "i dunno, waste of my time to check it out at a track". i might take it on a random weekend down to LACR and do a pass or 2, but my real love is corner carving.

i plan on spending most of my money on suspension. like for the motor i am gonna build up a Romeo block with a forged rotating assembly, ported PI heads with VT cams, a PI intakeand ARP studs throughout. i have a Accufab plenum and TB, and i will get a K&N FIPK. i am gonna keep the 28 spline axles, and might bump it up to a 3.73 from 3.27. i am gonna get Moser 28 spline axles and get ARP studs, might get the NASCAR style speed studs. i already have a FRPP girdle installed and i have a FRPP driveshaft waiting to go in.
