I've been a lurker on here for awhile but Im finally getting around to working on my mustang. I ordered the cobra rear bumper from cervinis and it looks great. The question I have is how hard is it to prep for paint? Its really shiny and smooth and looks like its going to be a PITA to get paint or primer to stick. Is there any tricks besides just washing it and scuffing it up? My other question is, I ordered the cobra rear spoiler from 50resto and it doesnt look right. I havent bolted it down or anything but I set it on there and got it close to where it should be and there is a gap between the edge of the spoiler to the edge of the hatch on both sides. Also looks like there is going to be some hole filling from where the original spoiler was, is that normal? Thanks for any input :SNSign:

The hole filling YES. I changed mine over before I had the car painted. I think there were 3-4 holes that needed to be filled. For the short time being I used some plastic door panel plugs and black goop to keep them from leaking. Looked kinda ghetto, but it worked until I forked over the big $$$ for the paint. The wiring hole from the previous Third light will not match up to were the new one goes. So yes to some fab taking place..
Good luck.

yeah hole filling is normal. no there's no secret way of prepping the bumper. just like anything else you paint, just gotta scuff and spray. I used 320 grit to scuff my bumpers when I painted my car a few weeks ago. then just go over it with a good filler primer.

Call Cervinis and get the correct directions on how to properly clean and paint that cover. They will give you the info you need for it to be perfect. Otherwise you wont get the mold release agent off and paint will never stick!!

Yea I'll give them call and see what they say, that mold release agent is what I'm afraid of! I think I'm going to call 50resto I'm still not sold on the spolier it doesnt look wide enough to cover both sides of the hatch, does anyone have a close up pic of that? I appreciate it guys!

If I can remember, they dont sit on the hatch like a GT wing, my Saleen doesn't come all the way to the edge either.

you can call cervini's but they'll tell you the same thing. scuff it up really well, go over it with a prep solvent and spray.

here's a few shots of the rear of my car, if you want to try to look at how a cobra spoiler sits on the hatch.

Cenok can you get a pic of the side of your car with those wheels. I have been considering those for my GT. I would like a better shot of the the dish on the front as well. What size tires you running?
