about how much rear wheel power will the cobrakiller kit, with the powerpipe, make on a bone stock auto? and will the tranny take this power safely? i know a shift kit and cooler help to make it safer, but would it be ok to drive it for a little while ( a few months) before adding these?

also...how good will this be for a street car that sees occasional track use? i know a lot of people are gona reccomend the KB, but the cost is a little more, and i like the safety track record the steeda/cobrakiller kit has.

Auto tranny will be fine. You should obviously have a cooler. I honestly dont think a powerful auto is a good street car, because I hate auto trannys for that. You can calculate whatever the equivalent rwhp will be for any set-up easily. Manual drivetrain loss = 15% auto =20%. Just look at what other people are making and you can work it out

Just multiply anyones dynos with a manual by around 94%. Thatll be about right. I.e. someone making 250rwhp with bolt ons on a stick, makes 235 with the same mods on an auto. Dammit.

call Tim and ask him about what to do for the tranny to make it last longer under the added power , hes done several I know ....personallly I would go with some 410s , should be pretty nasty ....not sure what gear Tim would recommend for the auto I know he says 3.73s with blown 5 spd cars ....

4.10s are too much in a blown auto in my opinion. You shift into OD at around 105. You dont want that, and youll spin so bad on the shifts.

autos were great for drag racing.. I wouldnt go higher then 373s gears because you dont want to hit OD at the track..

get a high stall and the cobra killer with some good tires.. you will see some low 12s..

i am probably gonna keep the stock gear, this being my everyday car. future mods are gonna be a good street strip torque converter, and a shift kit or jerry mod. i will add the cooler before, or very shortly after the supercharger install. and before track season, full length subframe connectors, torque boxes and axel tubes welded, and DR's. other suspension mods in the future will be upper and lower control arms, and lowering springs(mostly for looks), and some decent shocks/struts, considering mach one shocks and struts.

my goal is to break into the 12's with the dr's, and keep it an everyday car. i will be perfectly happy with a 12.99 run, as long as i can still use it as my everyday car.

how high a stall speed can you go, and still have the car be drivable in moderatly bad weather? i live real close to work, but i still want the car to be drivable everyday. i was thinking 2500 to 3000 stall speed is good for street and track.

I would HIGHLY reccomend gears with the auto and a centrificle supercharger.. remember the centriflcle builds PSI over RPM and the autos have a wide gears.. only leave the gears stock if you go kenne bell.. you will get better gas milage with 373s also..

also a high TC will still give you good drivabilty.. but you can launch harder..

see, thats why i want the centrificle. i want to not be in boost for regular driving. and when go to the track, or when i want to show off lol, i can. i know the performance will be less than if i had 3.73's or 4.10's. i can deal with that if i reach my goals of breaking into the 12's. and if or when i get another car, i can change the gear then. i am toying with getting a KB, what is the cheapest you can get the base kit for?

also you only go into boost under full throttle.. so everday driving you would never get into in boost anyway.. the KB just makes full boost at a lower RPM so gears arnt needed.. im going procharger on my 01 GT auto with 373 gears that should be fine..
