codes 157 & 33

95 GTS is acting like it wants to stall & then check engine light comes on..
code reader said "157" .....checked later and code read "33"......
checked plugs, rotor , distrib cap & wires, reinstalled plugs and rechecked codes after having battery disconnected 3hrs........now reads "157" again...
fuel pressure was 35 lbs, so bumped up to 39, car stills runs ragged & like it wants to stall .
any clues?

cold air kit w/K & N filter , FMS Headers, crane ign coil, MAC underdrive pulleys

Well, code 157 is MAF sensor voltage below minimum voltage.

First, clear the codes. Then run the car for a few minutes, and see if the code is still there. If it is, your Mass Air Flow sensor is dead.

All of our codes are 3 digit codes. The 33 you are reading is probably 1-1-1, 1-1-1. Which means that there are no codes stored in continuous mode.

Here is a link to trouble codes for our car. Remember some on the list apply to OBD II cars, which don't apply to us.

Your probably getting the EGR code because your car is surging so bad and almost stalling. The 157 i was having a problem with that jsut last week. My car was surging and stalling so bad. It would barely run at all. Just check your MAF Connector. I took mine off cleaned the contacts, Pluged it back in make sure its all the way in and secure. My car ran perfect. It was just dirty and no fully clicked on.

Yeah, I second that. Check the connectors at the MAF sensor. Make sure they are clean. That might be your problem.

But if all the above fails, and you are still getting code 157, then your MAF is dead.
