I keep getting code 34- EGR out of range..etc....

So I have done the following...

1) Applied vacuum to the valve with my vac pump. It opens and kills the car, expected. Good.

2) I go to the solenoid valve and don't get any readings from it when I probe the wires. I ground the circuit and the valve passes vacuum to the valve and the car dies.

I don't know what this means, but apprently the valve works, it just isn't getting the signal....at least this is what I think.

What is the next step???? Non of my books discuss what else to do :(

Thanks again

one thing to check is that the EGR valve seat is not worn. basically the sensor will read incorrectly if the seat has worn. so it tosses a code.

good luck bud - sounds like you are picking them up and knocking them down. :)

Unhook the connector from the solenoid and hook a voltmeter to both wires. Rev the engine up and see if you get a reading. If there is no reading, then the ground is not being supplied. Do the same thing I told you to do in the other post about the other solenoids.

If you do get a reading, hook the connector back up, put a vacuum gauge on the solenoid and rev the motor to 2K. You should get a reading on the vacuum gauge. If you do than you got a problem with the egr sensor or egr valve.
