??? Coil on Plug Upgrade????

I was think about upgrading the coil on plugs on my 07 GT (normal asperated). Granatelli makes a couple of versions for the 4.6. A 40,000 volt coil for increased fuel milage and a 60,000 volt coil with up to a 12 hp gain. Is it worth the extra 50 pounds of cash to get the 60,000 volt coil or would it be worth spending that kind of cash on an engine that will only have bolt on upgrades

i'm not an expert, but I think i remember some1 on here inquiring about the MSD coil paks and it was a waste of money on an N/A engine. my .02

dont waste your money. seen stock cars over 600rwhp with stock coils.

The factory coils have more than enough energy output. The only way you'd see a gain from an upgraded coil is if the current one wasn't providing complete combustion. ANd a factory coil is designed to operate under loads greater than anything you will ever put your ignition under. During normal conditions no more than 5000-7000 volts are drawn from them anyway. Hell, Fords even have multiple spark discharge from the facrory.

Thanks for the info. kind of figured that it would be a scheme of somekind. I guess that in some applications that you could benifit from them I'm not going to throw that kind of money into this car and make a racer. I just like having a relible daily driver that can beat up on these little college kids if I need to.

So that doesn't mean the OEM work better than aftermarket. The same cars might be making 625-630 with upgraded coils.
I am running the 60,00 volt GMS COPs and they are an awsome modification. They improve performance, the car idles smoother andaccelerates better.
They give 5-10 RWHP on a N/A car. I am over 500 RWHP and they are an awsome mod for high boost. You can see 15-25 on a high boost motor with these.
No scheme there just better coils.
They also have 100% better connectors which are braided and not spring type.

So for a stock motor it would probably be more beneficial to get better spark plugs before messing with the coils right?

As far as the connectors I have read about the improved design has a near 0 ohm's resistance. I would think that just replacing the connectors big improvment for the stock coil and get a better flow of current to the plug but the price for them is crazy.
