this is a 2 part question,

1. is there a performance advantage to coilovers vs. replacing your
shocks/struts with aftermarkets?

2. i am going with H&R springs but dont know if i should go with the sport or the super sport springs, i know mustangs dont have clearance issues like the fbodies do but i have long tubes...

super sports and 18's look like my cardomain link. stock wheels, and then the 18's. you might run into rubbing depending on tire decision. any other questions about the ss springs, pm me, chris if you do go ss, I would plan on some kind of shock strut combo. mine works great. check it out, and let me know what you think! long tubes should be ok as long as you remember them over speed bumps. I have only hit my mid pipe once, and it hangs down about the same as long tubes, atleast where they straighten out.

Coilovers have nothing to do with the shocks and struts really...all a coilover is a spring that slides over the strut or shock...

The benefits are they are usually lighter than a standard spring sice they are smaller, they provide a pretty much unlimited ride height selection, and they come in many different spring rates for whatever type of racing you are doing.

The main disadvantage is they transmit a lot more road noise to the frame of the car since they usually don't have dampeners on the springs.

Also, a lot of aftermarket K-members/A-arms require coilovers since they do not have stock spring perches on them...

it looks great, i was also wanting to go with tokico illumina S/S, those pics definitely have me considering the super sport springs, but just to be safe, i may stick with the sport
