Cold air induction & throttle body recomendations

I am looking to install a cold air induction system and new throttle body on my 2001 GT. Do you guys have any recomendations? What size comes with a stock GT non Bullett and what size do you recommend a 70MM or 75MM. What are the advantages of each. I am guessing an increase of about 25hp with both installed. Will I notice the difference in horse power? Are the throttle Bodies difficult to install? Thanks for your help.

i dont think you'll see 25 hp from just a CAI and a TB. at the rear wheels you could maybe see 6-9 hp.

as for recommendations, there are a few different companies:
1. Accufab
2. BBK
3. MAC
4. FRRP

this isn't a complete list though..anyways i got a 75mm TB on the way for my car, and i bought it from Ronnie Diaz Motorsports

You might want to consider the intake plenum while you are at it to maximize your gains.

You're lucky if you get 10 hp from that. But in all case you probably won't feel the difference at all !

They do make a big difference if you get the right kinds -
Start - with a DeMolet Densecharger Cold Air Kit (Full System) From the fender to the Throttle Body. It comes with a large K&N conical filter.
Next - Get an Accufab or BBK 75mm Throttle Body. Don't do a 70mm if you do the next.
Next - An Intake Plenum from Accufab or C&L.
And Last - A Mass Air Meter fro Pro-M - Demolet sells those too.
You will get BIG RESULTS - I know because I have done just that.
You will love it.
I have a 2002 GT.

i wouldn't get a MAF..too many people have had issues with theirs or reported no gain..i'd say right now it isn't a sure-thing type of mod, unlike plenums, tb's, K & N's (to an extent)

get a plenum and the tbody that plenum recommends....

and a densecharger t-body tube

I think you would see more gain from a throttle body and plenum too. I got my C&L plenum off of Ebay for $195-shipped and the Accufab throttle body came from Ronnie Diaz Motorsports. If you want a throttle body, I highly recommend the Accufab. It is a very nicely made unit. I also recommend buying from Ronnie. His customer service is top notch and he'll get you a good price.

You will get good gains with those two mods. Now if you are dead-set on a CAI kit, my recommendation is the Steeda CAI. Yes, it is a little higher than some of the others, but the quality is top notch. It also doesn't go into the fender so it doesn't affect your MAF readings like others with the 90* bends in them. Also, if you go to the track, the filter sits right behind the headlight so you can pull the two clips out that hold your headlight in and make sure you're getting plenty of air.

I agree with bone get the plenum of you choice but i dont know if a t/b will help much with very few mods you have

Small advanatages(your car may lunge when starting,, small gain less than 10hp.Easy install!!!

Do yourself a favor, don't buy any intake crap.

Here's what your shopping list should look like:
1. K&N

That's it. You want an intake mod, get a supercharger. Everything else is pretty much just The only exception being one of the new upper plenums.

Go with the Demolet Densecharger - And if you want your filter under hood instead of in the fender Demolet makes a bracket for that called the Triple Tune. So you would have the Tripple Bracket and the Pipe from your Mass Air to your Throttle Body. And Ask for the 8 1/2 K&N with it - it's a perfect fit - from your Mass Air forward. Gives you great volumn. The Densecharger Pipe outflows the rest and it costs less than Steeda.
Also - on the Mass Air issue - Pro-M Univer Mass Air that Demolet sells comes METERED FOR YOUR PARTICULAR SET-UP - custom - At a great price. Check it out on Demolet Motorsports - you won't go wrong. It is just plain mean.
What ever you do - get rid of the Stock snorkle, filter box, filter and pipe all the way to your Throttle Body and replace it with a new system.

go with the densecharger. I paid about 170 for the whole kit and it runs fron the fenderwell to the throttle body. I put one in my 2002 gt and it help out alot. I could feel the difference. A very good intake. Im not sure what a good throttle body is, but i would work on a exhaust system next, h or x pipe, then mufflers, then headers, and a triax shifter wouldn't hurt either. i amputtinga mac prochamber h pipe next, so we will see what gains i get from that. The densecharger is highly recomended though

Also - On the Plenum issue - There is a Guy on stangonline.com that Ports out your stock Plenum. Cleans it out real good inside - Gets a lot more CFMs out of it - For less than half the price of one of the new ones. His work looks great. He's also in the Service. Look for Mustang GT Ported Upper Intake Plenum - Item number 1094. That's the route I'm taking - It will be kinda stealth.

Don't forget, before each mod you do - disconnect the Negative Battery Cable while you are doing your work - then when finished, hook it back up - that will set your computer.

I got a 75mm Accufab throttle body. I like it a lot. The TB is a really nice piece and a worth while mod. I bought mine from Ronnie Diaz Motorsports. He was a great guy to work with, highly recommended.
