I'm looking at a 2005 V6 for my daughter. The guy that owns it has a Steeda CAI on it, but did not do a retune. What damage, if any, can be done without the retune? Don't want to buy if possible problems.

And the car still runs? I'd go out and get an SCT X-cal 2 right away with a tune for the Steeda intake. Talk to Doug at http://www.bamachips.com/ ... he may have a tune for the Steeda. If not, just go to Steeda directly.

But, as long as the car is running and the check engine light hasn't been tripped, it's probably ok for now... though, the air/fuel ratios are going to be off.

Just know, you're buying the car from well.. not the sharpest tool in the shed. Everything on Steeda's site says their intake needs a tune. Who knows how this dope treated the car?

Is that the only mod he made to the car? If a CAI and no tune is on the car, then the owner may not be a dope, he may have flashed the car back to stock, kept the XCAL2 and got a GT. In that case, I'm wondering if he did anything else. I would check the car thoroughly.

he may want the car to remain melow due to it being his daughter. doug may have a very conservitive tune just recaalibrating the maf. as i understand it when you guys by from him you get 3 tunes? this being the case. war you may ask doug for a stock tune just calibrating the maf. and maybe the other 2 with mild performance items as your daughter gets better with the car. or for when you want to drive it! just a thought.

todd i had the same thought!
