cold air intake

i was thinking about building a cold air intake for my 88 2.3 na that is stock so what i want to know from the guys that have one is it worth the trouble can u really feel a power increase does it make ur car run better do u get better gas millage or worse right now i get 20 so i dont want to get worse unless ther is a definat power increase i do have an tintake hose that i could use that will bolt on and all i will have to do is put a cone on the end
also is there a set of underdrive pully i can get

Someone on here I for get who, said it best; horse power fights Gas milage and that is the best way to put it. I made a CAI for my 93' 2.3L LX and I notice better responce at higher RPMs but not anything big like 5-20hp gains most people are looking for. I also didn't notice any Gas milage differences.

As for how letting your car breath better to help power. I put it to you this way, it allows more air to enter into the motor, the more air the more fire ( this is all forced induction does, it injects of shoves more air into the motor for a bigger gulf of air on the fire). Now the more the engine is able to get reed of the old burnt exhaust gases the more its able to suck in cleaner fuel to burn. That is a simple way to look at it and not the best way so don't shoot me for not completely going over it.
