Alright, so I've got a 2001 GT I just bought about a month ago, I haven't done anything to it yet. I want to upgrade my intake first. Now normally I would just go right for cold air intake, but I've spent a few nights down at the track since I got my car, and a handful of guys with the same car are using short ram intake, and when they race they take the passanger side headlight off and just let all the air flow directly into it. That seemed like a pretty smart idea, but I'll also be doing a fair amount of street driving too. You know, pulling up to a redlight next to a car and letting loose on the son of a bitch. So in this senario, spending time probably more on the road, and probably at the track lets figure once a week or so, which would be the better route to go?

It should be called....Gimmick vs Gimmick. Neither one are as effective as most companies would have you believe. You'll do just as well with sticking a K&N filter in your stock air box. Save your money for mods that actually do increase your airflow like a T/B and/or an Elbow.

Get a plastic CAI (fender-mounted filter) like Demolet, but make sure you get the TB and plenum.

just remove the air silencer and go with a K&N drop in filter and you will get the same results for less $, if the rest of your intake tract is remaining stock. If you goahead and add a larger TB and a plenum, then a CAI may be worth it for a few more HP

I have the MAC Straight Shot intake. I Am pleased...
I had the MAC Fenderwell "Cold-air" intake before it.
I would recommend going with the short ram. Either the str8 shot..or the K&N Intake system.....

i did the same thing on my 2002 GT./ I started with the DeMolet CAI (stage 1 system 5) and then did the dragon plenum and 75mm TB... CAI cleaned upo my upper RPMs and the other two really made a difference. good route for sure, drop me a line if you have any questions.
