color help?

so i just got my cowl hood in the mail... please save the "BODY MODS ON A COUPE FTL!! LEAVE THE STOCK HOOD ON A COUPE!!!111!1!!@" flaming, i've heard it all before, and i'm still putting the hood on my car... so can anyone help me figure out what color my car is??? i think it is a Ford color correct for a 91, but the VIN says it was originally black... so is it Medium Red or Wild Strawberry?? can you even tell?

the reason i'm asking is that all of the body shops by me quoted me for over $800 just to prep and spray this hood, and i'll be damned if i pay that mcuh, so i'll read and practice and shoot it myself, thanks in advance for the help/not flaming

Without being able to determine the paint code by VIN, or a trim tag, you can never be 100% sure of the paint code. If you take your car to a PPG paint center, or auto body paint and supply store who carries PPG to have them give you the exact color. Most PPG suppliers have a machine, the "electronic eye", that will scan a color sample, and tell you exactly the paint mix you need to match the hood. Just an option.
