I personally don't know much about Fords but i'm trying to help my sister. She has a 94 5.0 with 102,000 miles that she wants to make some more power. My engine builder says the short block looks great. What parts should she buy to acheive streetability with the occasional trip to the track. The car will have to be reliable enough to make 500 mile trips from Kentucky to Virginia. I really want to get the car done so she can enjoy it before she goes to Afganistan in about 2 months. My thoughs from reading are

Stock bottom end
AFR 165 heads
Performer RPM intake
Bigger injectors
Cold air intake
Underdrive pulleys
shorty headers
exhaust

I have no idea what else please help me.

Sounds good so far. I suggest a custom cam, even off the shelf ones would be beneficial as well. Also a fuel pressure regulator would be great with the combo too. Expect about 300-320 rwhp when it's tuned properly. Oh yeah, 3:73 gears if she doesn't have that yet. It'll be perfect with the engine combo. Hope this helps!

+1 on the custom cam. It really helps. Sounds like you're off to a great start. The camshaft will be a little limited because of the stock piston to valve clearance, but it shouldn't be an issue with those heads. 24lb/hr injectors will be fine. A bigger MAF and Throttle body will help. You'll need an adapter elbow for that intake, but those are cheap. It's a good idea to get a chip for the computer. That combination is mild, and shouldn't effect the reliability or driveability at all. These cars are a little finicky when it comes to certain camshafts. 102,000 miles is nothing for a 302 that has been taken care of, so the machinest is probably right on with the condition of the short block. If the engine is out, it's not a bad idea to replace the oil pump and put a hardened oil pump shaft in. Double roller timing chain is a good idea too. Is this an automatic car, or a 5 speed?

Might be time to put a new clutch in. Most people upgrade to a metal quadrant with the clutch, and either firewall or fork cable adjuster. That combination will be a little hard on the stock clutch, but it will be ok for the time being. If it's a 5 speed car, a nice shifter goes a long way. Brand is a matter of preference, but a lot of people like the MGW, which is a good bargain, although I have no personal experience with it.

Or you could always just throw a supercharger on it and call it good??

Which size MAF and TB would she need? Are 24lb injectors going to be correct? Is there a specific tuner that will work or do I need to take the car to a chassis dyno shop to be tuned.

The clutch is fairly new 2000 mi or so on it, and I believe stock gears.

Myself I woud do a top end kit with 24lb injectors with matching MAF sensor, Long tube headers, mid pipe w/cats, 70mm throttle body, 3;73 or 3.55 rear end gears, 190lph fuel pump, adjustable fuel pressure regulator and fuel pressure gauge.

Redirect Notice kit.

I'd go with the standard 70mm throttle body, and 75mm MAF. There are lots of tuners you can use to tune it yourself. It's a bit of steap learning curve. A good mail order chip can be had for about $350, and that will take care of it.
