this spring me and my buddy are going to have a build off i'm going to build a351w and he is going to build a 350. the only rule is they must be n/a. he is going to buy the trick flow kit out of summit that claims it makes 500 hp with a vic jr intake and holley 750dp. my plan is to get a set of trick flow r series heads a vic jr intake a 750 dp carb and a custom cam. will the stock pistons work with them heads. about how much hp will it make? any other suggestions

why go with factory pistons? why not slip a 393 or 408 stroker into it. 500 ponies from a 350 seems a little steep with just heads and intake. after all a properly built 408 stroker in a 351w with afr 205 heads makes around the 550 to 575 mark. and thats with big block cubes in a small block package.

the tf kit comes with a cam, lifters and pushrods. after thinking about it i'm going with vic jr heads milled so i have a 58cc and boring the block 30 over the reason for not going with a stroker is im on a tight budget

why not look for a used set of afr 205's then you have lots of room to grow when you do have a budget.

The TFS R will eat the Vic. Jr. out of the box,they are also about $400 more though...

Also,you can use 302 pistons (yes,even stock 302 pistons) with the stock 351W rods and a "393" stroker crank (3.85" stroke) to make a 387.

never knew that blue maybe thats what i should do get some forged 30 over 302 pistons have them slapped on my 351w rods and more cubes just like that.

Yep that is the cheap stroker and it works. Also if you are on a budget, go with the Vic Jr.'s they are best bang for your buck. Now one more thing what year block are you working with, and what cam you planning on. I hope you are ready to spin that thing.
