comp cams 281hr

So like any build it will depend on the rest of the motor. Cubic inches, which heads (ported or not), which upper and lower intake (ported or not), rpm range, manual or automatic trans, rear gear, etc.

Exactly what Aero says. The lift reminds me of a f303 cam, which is what i run. What are you runnin?
.030 over explorer engine. stock p heads, alex's beehive spring kit, 9.4-1 compression, .040 quench, rpm intake, 600 street avenger, shorty headers, pertronix ign., edge 3000 stall, 3.73 gears. i was shooting for about 300 fwhp but idk. street car, short bursts of speed. says mild rough idle.

If i knew what I know now, I would have gotten something different. I was young and someone was selling the fcam in my area so I picked it up. I do like the sound, has a nice lope to it.

That cam is pretty pricey I dont remember these costing that much! Think I paid 100 for mine

it looks closer to the e303, 281 overall dur, 220@ .050, .512 lift, 110 lobe sep, 106 intake c/L as it is ground 4 degrees advanced.

Its a mixed bag, the reviews for that cam
...people have good and bad results with it according to what i read. I think you mentioned comp cams recommended it to you? Then i would counter them with why, based on what i had in my combo.

Since its comparable to the ecam, in your words, then you will probably have good results since people seem to like it in general for mild builds. I only saw the valve lift, which does match the f303, and i know most people ive talked to dont like it!

i was hoping to make 300fwhp with this set up, from what i have seen it's probly pretty close. the 4 degree advance should start the power band a little lower, idk if that will make much difference with the higher stall and gears.

Im thinkin you should be fine. Just curious what trans do you have?
aod with shift reprogram, 1 piece shaft, edge c-6 convertor, hayden 698 cooler. i figured this would be a peppy combination. if i felt if it needed more power i could just swap for some better heads. idk if it would be much of a tire burner but it should take off pretty quick. this will be my first hot rod i built for myself in 40 years. thinking i can run this holley off the low pressure pump in the tank and omit the one on the frame. has anyone done this?
