Ok I searched the threads but found nothing, so what I am wondering is has anybody or does anybody have the comp engineering 3 way adjustable drag shocks n struts? If so are they streetable because my car is my full daily driver and I want an adjustable suspension thats good for traction? My second question is when I do my struts n shocks i'm putting on springs, what springs should I do? I was thinking about the eibach pro kit or the drag kit, im really confused bc I don't know how the drag springs handle on the street, are they any good? And last if I did get the pro kit would I still get good traction when I adjust my shocks n struts to full drag? Which is better for street?

The Comp Engineering products are a real pain to adjust since you have to dis-mount the shock to do it.

Do yourself a favor and get the Strange units, nice pieces that are fully adjustable, price is very good as well.

Really a coil over up front with stock springs out back would be the best way to go. If your car is full weight up front you'll need a 14" 175 spring, or possible a 225 pound spring. Spend the money once and be done.

The drag kit works well but as you learn more and try to go further you'll find out the coil overs are the way to go up front. If you decided to add a anti-roll bar you'll need springs in the rear with the same rate, the drag kit is not.

Rick is right in regards to the shocks. Those shocks are reasonably priced. They do work, but you have to unbolt and listen for the clicks to adjust. I have them on my car. No street driving. I set mine and left them alone. I have the right rear on hard and the left on the med setting if I remember correctly.

The strange ones have a knob on the shock body. All you have to do is turn the knob like on old TV's.

you mentioned you want to get an adjustable......well they are the cheapest adj out and they work very good.

Spend a little more now and get what you want, or waste money and then re buy parts later on.

Don't use a lowering spring with a drag suspension, use your stock rear springs and go with a coil over in the front, 14" 150-175#

Not to Hijack the thread but I have a question for Rick.

Hey Rick,

I am currently running coil over fronts with 12" 200# springs. When I jack up the car the springs just bounce all around. they have no tension at all. I was thinking about going with a 14" spring to take up the slack but I was afraid that I would not be able to lower my car down enough with them. But with a lighter spring rate like a 150# I might be able to.
What do you think?

Oh yeah I am running the UPR coil over kit.

Thanks,

Kevin

We have been running the 14" springs with the UPR kit with pretty good success. If the car is really light up front and primarily a drag car you can go 130# but be prepared to change them out sine they will wear quicker. We had to go a 225# spring in my dads 93 Cobra when it was full weight plus the blower.

We've tucked the tires in the fender with 150# and 130#, dads car even tucked a 175# with as heavy as it was up front.

I am starting out with a 14" 150# in my car, pretty light up front but I do have a half filled SVO 9.2 deck block, alum everything, motor plates, and that big ass F1R.

Sounds like I will try the 14" 150# springs out. With the 12" 200# ones now I have to really adjust the spanner nut almost all the way down to get the car to sit right. Although one side is adjusted about 1 1/4" lower than the other to acheive the same ride height on both sides.
This is how the car sits now.

As long as I can maintain the same ride height and get rid of the extra slack then I will be ok. Also I would like it to be a little softer up front too.

It wil be softer and you'll have more adjustment. They use HAL/QA1 springs so you can order then from JEGS or just call UPR they should have them on the shelf. Ask for Jeremy if you call UPR ;)

I'd kill for some of that weather in your pic :nice: That's a good pic

Thanks Rick.
Yeah I know Jeremy. I used to work at UPR. I've known Jeremy for about 15 years. I helped UPR get into making aftermarket dress up parts. See page 3 of my page.

No Thanks. I'll give Jegs a call. :D

Yeah the weather was nice that day. I'd kill for some of that weather as well. :rlaugh: I just moved to Texas in July.

Ok I'm pretty set on this setup, so I think I'm gonna get the Granatelli front coil over kit with the strange 10way shocks n struts n keep the back springs stock. Is this the only thing I need or do I need special stuff for coil overs?

If you get coil overs I STRONGLY recommend buying Caster Camber Plates. Now that you are putting the load of the springs on your front strut towers they need it for the strength.
Also you could try some 4 cylinder springs in the rear to make it softer. Also with an airbag in the right rear to keep it straight.

O god I changed my mind again, I'm such a mess! Ok I'm def. set on front coil overs, but if I go with lakewoods, 70/30, 50/50's would the coil over make my suspension feel good on the street? I was planning on the lakewoods firts but my cousin had them and they were alittle bumpy but if coil overs help it then I'm set. You guys prob. think I'm a nut case but I just wanna do it once and do it correct!

Ok guys I bought my suspension and would like everyone's opinion on it.
I bought the granatelli front coil over kit for $150 from mustangmotorsports. The springs are the street springs that are a 12', 300lb rate.
Then I got lakewood 70/30 struts and 50/50 shocks from summit, some ball joints and im still deciding on which brand for c/c plates. How will this ride on the street since it's my everyday driver and how's it gonna hook?
