Well i am not too sure what kinda mustang these computers came out of. If you guys could tell me that would be great here are some pics and what i think is the ford number

E9ZF-12A650-C2A


E7SF-12A650-A18 This one also has a hypertech chip with it. Is there any way to find out what is one the chip?

A9P is from an auto aero fox.
The DA1 is from a Aero SD stang as I recall.

so the da1 would work with a five speed. Now what about the chip for it is there anyway to find out about that. And how can you tell if the computer is still good?

The J3 'chip' is interesting...
It doesn't look like the J3 port was cleaned properly before install though... it may not have been working at all...

(you posted while I was finding links...)

The DA1 is for a manual, but should work for auto as well. The calibrations aren't very different.


The chip?
If you can find some part numbers, try to call the original manufacturer...

If that doesn't work, then you may be able to have it read somewhere.
For example... When you buy a tweecer you can send in a J3 'chip' to Mike (at tweecer), and he will do a read of the tune. You get a file with all the settings contained in your J3 chip.
I am sure other places offer the same kind of service, but I wouldn't know where...

would it be worth putting into my 1990 mustang or just keep the computer in there, or could that chip work in the computer from the 1990?

The computer in your 1990 is pretty much the same as the DA1 and A9P. You won't see a performance difference there.
(odds are you either have an A9L or A9P, or possibly one of the A3M units?)

chip?
You need to find out what it is.
This could be very tough to do, or it could take 10 minutes and a phone call.

If you want, try plugging it in to the car and see what happens. I doubt you will see any gains (assuming the chip is an OTS part), or the motor will run like total crap (assuming this is a custom chip for large injectors and custom MAF curve, etc.).
If you contact the folks that produced/programmed it, you may be able to get some clues, but that is unlikely.
Most custom tuners don't externally specify the tune changes on the casing of their chips.

Th DA1 computer will not work correctly in your 1990 Mustang. The DA1 is Speed Density and your car is Mass Air.

The A9P will work for both Auto and 5 Speed 5.0 Mustangs from 89-93. I have used an A9P in my 89 5 speed GT and it works fine.

I hosed that up pretty bad...

DA1 is SD,
so NO,
it will not work in your 1990.

And don't try to use the chip from that ecu on the MAF ecu either. Not until you get ahold of someone who can tell you what is on that chip.





That's pretty embarassing...
I'm going to blame it on the 10-12Hr work days and 3-5 hrs of sleep each night...
