concequences (sp?) of not bleeding the brakes?

My buddy is doing my brakes... driver side caliper froze up, he put the new oin on.. he's driving to my house riught now and he said that he didn't need to bleed the brakes?>?!?! I woried about my car and this idiot who did 'em...


and for those who say i should of done them myself, your right, but i work 7 days and have no tools... and this guy owns a mustang so i trusted him..

I would just buy the one man brake bleeder. It's like $5. Just fill up the master cylinder, loosen the bleeder screw and give the pedal 3 pumps. Check the hose. No bubbles and your good. Seriously a 2 min job by yourself. I always thought having a bubble in the line could freeze up the brakes but I'm not sure. I always bleed mine when I do that stuff just to be safe.

If you open up a brake line, you NEED to bleed the brakes.

Consequences?? Basically you could have no brakes!!

The air in the brake line compresses instead of pushing out the caliper pistons. So Even though you keep pushing harder on the pedals, the brakes aren't grabbing at all because the air acts like a sponge and compresses instead.

yeah... if u dont bleed them... basically u run the risk of the car not stopping. Even if it does stop, your pedal will probably be really spongy and feel like crap.

Mike is right, you ALWAYS have to bleed one way or another if you ever open a brakeline or anything.

This little guy says it all... OUUCH!!!

I have done brakes before and I know for sure that if you don't bleed the brakes, you increase you chances to crash and burn...

A buddy to push the pedal and hold it down, along with a open end or box wrench to turn the fitting is the place to start. Add to that a 18" long plastic tube to slide over the fitting and a plastic cup or 2 liter soda bottle to catch the fluid and you are in business.
