Confused about track times.

Here is what I ran on Friday night:

R/T = .000
60' = 1.961
330' = 5.749
1/8 = 8.872 @ 78.64
1000 = 11.551
1/4 = 13.808 @ 99.84

What is throwing me off is that I am obviously hooking up half way decently, but I am running a similar E.T. than I was when I had my Summitomo's on (13.833) instead of my drag radials (13.808). My 60' times have improved though. I am just guessing its due to stock suspension and gears. Also, all the mods I have to my car are listed in my sig.

My next round of mods are: aluminum fly wheel, way better clutch (t.o.b. and pilot bearing as well), aluminum drive shaft, and 4.10's (with new bearing etc), then re tune the car.

Any thoughts/feed back would be appreciated.

What was the MPH on the previous runs? If it was higher, then you are likely just running slower due to the weather. It is july after all, which means more heat and humitidy. Last time I was out at the track, seemed like most of the street driven cars were embarrassingly slow, mostly due to the weather I guessed.

Yes you really need to look at the density altitude (DA) to gauge how it has affected engine HP output. As bhuff30 asked what was you MPH on the previous runs?

From the 2006 FORD Performance Parts catalog.

Thanks for the info, Stan. I forgot to mention that the temp was around 84 then cooled off to around 78/79 ish. The humidity was high at 85. I know the weather and humidity play a big part in the big picture, but I thought I might have been missing something. Lol, we don't get many cool nights at the track here in Orlando.

Also, I have been playing around with air pressures in my tires, even trying a lower pressure in the right rear just to see. I found on my car that 18 p.s.i. worked best on both sides. The higher the p.s.i, the higher the trap speeds. At 20-22 p.s.i. i was hitting mid 101. at the 18 p.s.i., I am hitting 99.

As far as what rpm I launch at: I held the line loc and as the tree counted down, I increased the rpms around the second yellow light. Then, I released the line loc and clutch and hammered it, leaving around 2500 rpm give or take a few.

Thanks for all the input guys!!!
