I pulled my motor out yesterday and today started pulling it apart. I'm running the casting numbers on the parts and from what I can find the connecting rods are out of a 1968? Would this be correct, as far as I know the motor was never rebuilt (althought it must have been). The rest of the numbers seem to be for a 1987, the block is a E7TE-CA.
Oh,, the cap on the rods have the number D1OE, that would be 1971 correct?
The connecing rod looks the same but the caps from this engine, compaired to the 93 I have in a bin in the corner are totally different.
So are the pistons, the 87 pistons have TRW stamp in the the 93 has nothing?
Anyone seen this before?
Anyway,,, getting off track... what I really want to know is would these rods be stronger than the HO casting?
