Just bought MM adj LCA's and Ford HD upper control arms. Local dealership wants $17.50 per bolt and $2.30 per nut. I need 8 of each! Any suggestions on where to buy the bolts/nuts? Anyone have a local dealer that gave them a better price on the bolts. I would be willing to contact that dealer and pay shipping. Thanks. I found out that UPR has them, but I don't hear great things about that company.

Why not go to a hardware store or fastener supply house?

you would need to buy a class 10.9 galvanized bolt which i think would really be hard to find at hardware store.
the bolts sold on that site have anti-corrosion finish the same as the oem.

10.9 is hard to find.

Grade 8 would be easier, and is more rugged than 10.9....however being a metric pitch i doublt you'll find it any other way than 10.9

10.9 and grade 8 are close, but grade 8's standards are slightly better

I could be wrong but late model restoration sells the bolts in a kit as well.

just did the same thing. edelbrock has them on summit for $15. you would have to get two sets to do both uppers and lowers. plus the greatest thing about it is you get standard sizes instead of that metric garbage 18mm stuff. mm recommends the ford original stuff, but i have no issues with these

Dumb question, but why can't you just use the old ones?

I have reused all of mine on, the 79, and the 82, any through many rear end and control arm changes, except the rear lowers on the 82, because I needed longer ones to hold the extra thickness of the traction bars. I got plain old grade 8 bolts at Lowes or a hardware store, if I remember correctly.

You might check with Greens as they will have OEM Ford Parts but they should be cheaper than the Dealer.

I always thought those Bolts had a Shoulder on them which you would most likely not find at the Harware Store.

When I put new Control arms on mine I went to www.McMaster.com and ordered all my hardware.

All 10.9 Zinc Coated stuff with Nyloc nuts.
Not cheap but it will never rust.

Edit. Here is the shopping list I had from their site. And for some reason BreezeAuto says its a 16mm bolt... I used 12mm and they fit tight...

2 95327A708 Metric Znc Yellow Pltd Stl Hex Head Cap Screw, Class 10.9, M12 Size, 100mm Length, 1.75mm Pitch 1
Pack of 5 $10.87

3 94645A230 Class 10 Zinc-plated Stl Nylon-insert Locknut, M12 Screw Sz,1.75mm Pitch, 19mm Width, 12mm Heig 1

Shakerhood is right. Hardware stores don't have bolts with shoulders. Just get the correct ones.

I just installed the one from UPR. They don't have the shoulder but the whole bolt is the same diameter as the shoulder part on the stock bolts. They came with nylon locknuts and are standard not metric. Plus they are under $20 for upper and lowers.

The bolts that I put in (1/2" I think, it's been a while) are tight in both the arm and the mount points on the car. It's not something I'm concerned about.
