I have a set of hpm control arms and I just piched up a set of koni quads. A friend of mine told me that was a waste of time and money. I am trying to build a road race car and so I just wanted to know if this was true..... thanks

I spoke with a guy at steedaabout this same thing. He said that if you have changed your upper and lower control arms you do not even need the quad shocks. I still however left them on my car however I will not be buying any High performance ones.

Are there any gains (60' times, traction) by removing the quads, or just ditching them because you don't need them?

I have MM lowers and Steeda HD uppers, so I might try ditching the quads.

Should the suspension be loaded or unloaded while unbolting them?

If you're unbolting the quads, it really shouldn't matter if the suspension is loaded or not. They will extend when you get them off (unless they're shot) but they won't shoot out or anything. I've had mine off and on a couple times.

I replaced my LCA's and replaced the quads & shocks - they are there to prevent wheel hop, which was apparently a problem with the stock suspension. However, I've heard a lot of people say they're unnecessary with quality aftermarket components. Only way to know on your car is to try launches both ways - if you have a problem or notice a performance difference leave them on.

Just a couple thoughts.

I can verify since I've driven with the quads on and off that I would keep them on for drivability. It really helps dampen the bumps. I took the quads off when I installed the Steeda lower control arms but I got tired of how bumpy the ride was. One day when I was bored, I put them back on and now I won't take them off. They helped dampen the bumps and improve the ride...
