Well i need an '86 Mustang door. I have a '91 door on the car but i want the older mirror. I'm having a tuff time finding a replacement '85-86 door. So... what would i need to do/buy to get my '91 door to be a '86 door? I have the door mouldings. I'd need the mirror and the moulding that goes along the bottom of the window right? Anybody done this before? If i buy a '86 door i'd have to swap locks, paint it to match, and tint the windows as well.
Convert '92 door to '86 door? Or buy '86 door?

HUGE PITA is what this is...i spent a good couple years holding out for the right doors and finally i've got a set of '85's that are rust free. You can convert everything over, but it's a huge hassle. The dew wipe which is the squeegie part on the outside of the window, is totally different on the newer doors, which is why the mirrors are different as well. You can switch them back to the older style, but there are some spots that will need welded shut under the newer wipes, and beyond that i'm not 100% sure since i gave up on it and held out for the right doors.
hm....i might go junk yard hunting pretty soon then. Cause i figured it was a PITA ha.
When you go what you wanna pay close attention to is that dew wipe on the outside window. When they get dry rotted and start cracking, that lets water inside the door shell and it just sits and rots out the doors....that prompted the change in wipe design on the newer doors. Just look really close at the bottom/inside of the doors....they're almost all rusted out. The ones i got were off of a piece of crap but amazingly the doors were rust free. The wipes are dry rotted to hell and back though so i'm waiting on getting new ones before they go on the car.
