Convert Power Windows to Manual

Has anybody converted their power windows to a manual/rollup window setup. What is involved? What parts are needed? Having problems with electric motors and want to loose some weight. Thanks for any input!

You'll need the manual window regulators (the part the glass goes into), the window crank handles, manual window armrests (for looks) and manual window door panels unless you feel like taking a hole saw to your door panel and making your own hole. That should be it....

When I did mine the doors were pre-drilled from the factory for either style so it was just a matter of removing the power regulator and motor and replacing it with the manual parts, lining it up to the other set of holes and riveting them in.Since the factory rivets are aluminum with a steel center it is easier to drill 3 or 4 holes through the aluminum and knock them off with a chisel instead of drilling out the steel center.The rivets are also fairly large so you might have to get them at an industrial supply store.

ss93cobra pretty much summed it up. But don't even think about trying to cut a hole in the power door panels. You have to get the manual door panels & armrests since the armrests are shorter to give you enough room to actually turn the window crank to raise & lower the window. The power arm rest is too long and the crank will not turn fully.

Bingo! We have a winner! I found this statement to be true a couple months ago. The obvious "long" & "short" lettering on the backside of the armests
became quite aparent when doing a similar swap. i ruined a perfectly good door panel that day....
