Could you post pics of your roll bar in your convert? I am hoping I need one now as A roll bar is required in any convertible running 13.99 seconds or quicker in the quarter mile,

I think they are a bit ugly, but want to bring my car to the track this year.

KillerCanary is the only one I can think of off hand who has one..

according to NHRA 2004 regulations. a vert going 13.99 or faster must have an approved rollbar, an SFI 16.1 driver restraint system and helmet.

Here is my Autopower 4-point with the harnes, cross bar, and thicker tubing. The look and fit is awesome.

After the 2004 season, NHRA changed the rule for verts & coupes, verts can run up to 13.49 or slower & not need a roll bar, still need a helmet & hard tops can run 11.49. The change was brought about by the newer cars that can run faster than that off the show room.

94CobraPace is correct, a bar is now required at 13.49 for BOTH NHRA and IHRA tracks. IHRA has always bee 13.49, NHRA just changed their's this year from 13.99 to 13.49. As for roll bars... NONE of the bars pictured here are legal, including mine. For the bar to be legal there are a BUNCH of things you must do. The angles of the bars, how they are welded to the frame, the thickness of the tubing, etc are specific and have to be a certain way to ensure it will pass tech. You may get by like I do with a 4pt. A 4 pt is NOT legal though. You MUST have a side impact bar on at least the driver side and the bar must intersect between your shoulder and elbow when you are in the driver seat. The bar must also have a cross bar in the main loop (the bar that goes directly behind the front seats) and techinically this bar can NOT be bolted in so tis means your back seat is then NON functional. The rules are their for our protection, but they take away a LOT of streetability from the car and anyone that says otherwise is feeding you a line of BS. I have contemplated stepping mine up a few times to a legal bar, but since the car only sees the track 2-3 times a year anymore, its stupid for me to do so. If and when I hit the 11's I am totally done racing the car, one because I don't want to beat the hell out of it anymore, and secondly I WILL get the boot at ANY track when I hit the 11's.

does anybody have any information on cjones' rollbar? he says it's a MM 6pt but the braces going to the rear from the main hoop seem to be lower than any i've seen on MM, also, they don't make a MM for our year?

Even KillerCanary's rollbar's rear braces seem to contact the main hoop lower than any i've seen... although i don't know what kind he has

is that safe? ... I really like it, just don't know where to get it (i'm assuming killers is custom and cjones' is a fox MM 6pt with reworked rear braces

anybody has ideas... throw them out

just got off the phone with MM and they said they'll have rollbars out for SN95s within the next 4-5 weeks in the same configurations as the foxes

so, that kinda answers the question... but if anybody has info, that'd still be helpful

don,

the bar is for a 94 and up hardtop (weld in).

we cut the hoop 1.5 inches and had MM ship it without the rear bars attached so we could fab where the rears would go because of the tonneau cover.

you can go here: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/461081/6 for some install pics.

take care,
CJ

Thanks for the info, and nice car cj!

I actually picked up a rollbar from autoweldchassis. It seems a little wide for my car and barely fits, but i haven't cut anything yet. They were a pain in the butt though, wouldn't take my order b/c I wanted something custom so the guy never called me back, then it came about 2-3 months later than it was quoted to. SO EXPECT DELAYS! good thing i wasn't in a rush to get it.

so i'll be putting it in this summer, hopefully along with some full length subframes too.

Good luck. Auto Weld is only about two hours from my house and I was considering taking my car there. But I ended up finding an MM 6 pt in Jersey for $140. I'm gonna copy cjones and put my cervini's tonneau over the rear seats. Hopefully I'll be dropping it off this weekend to get it done.
