I got my torque converter when my car was stock. It did good, with little slip (4-6%). Now I have started to notice that it is slipping more. The car used to be at 7psi, but yesterday it was more like 9psi and the slip was bad. Around 5k, I am calculating about 15% slip.

I might not even be calculating this right, but I am going 105 at 5300 rpms. With 0 slip and 3.27s, 315/35/17s and in 3rd gear I should be doing 124.

Does this sound like my converter needs to be re-stalled or something else?

I am guessing my power has double since I put the converter in, if that matters. It still stalls at 3k.

maybe it is not locking up?

You can datalog the lockup. If you are using my old tunes, I had it set not to lockup at WOT in 3rd. I ended up locking it early in all gears and got better performance.

I have been using the same transmission settings that I first got from you. At Tp 1020 it locks at 127. Your tune from the track shows it locking at 65. Guess I will have to tweak with that.

Look at my latest tune (I'll resend if you don't have it). The locking happens just a few MPH after the shift takes place (and completes).

It will really make your car move.

I am looking at sct tune 18

I got a few questions, but I will just ask one.

When it locks in 2nd at 600&1020 TP, its 35mph, but it also unlocks at the same TP and MPH? Does this not make it keep locking and unlocking?

Those lines represent where you will lock and unlock at -- cross "above" of the lock line and it will lock -- cross "below" and it will unlock.

There is a built in time in the scalars that puts timers on the locking and unlocking also.

alright, now it seems worse.

Made a pass and thought 2nd gear was spinning. Stayed in it and it did it in 3rd too. Was not logging, but did on next pass and it did it again. At about 82 seconds into it the rpms start climbing really fast

anyone have any ideas?

Looks like the lockup rate isn't fast enough, it's locking but it is taking its time doing so.

Compare your 0-60 or 0-90 times to a previous datalog and see how much faster/slower it is.

I compared my 0-60 and this was the fastest one I have. I did not compare 0-90 because of the slip, which would make it slower.

I was looking over the log again, and at et.80.16528 it goes to 3rd gear, which is way too soon. Then at 82.08804, it goes back to 2nd and the converter unlocks.

So maybe my problem is the car down shifting.

I will look at my tune more to see maybe if my updown shifts are too close

Sounds like you are off to a good start figuring out why it commanded 3rd then 2nd then 3rd. There are time delays on the shifts that will prevent that sort of thing, make sure you haven't zero'd them out.

If you are using my tune for the shifting/locking, you will want to start from my tune as a BASE and then drop in your changes -- there are a lot of things changed, more than BE has and things only the latest CalEdit has.

I can send you my same tune but N/A if you would rather start there. Use the "diff" function in BE to see what is changed.

What is the converter? It could be a sign of a bad converter clutch or a slipping roller clutch in the converter.
