Convertible headliner question

There is a hard black connecter that runs across the headliner above the front seats that looks like it was designed to open to allow access to the mechanical parts of the top. Mine is seperated for about 5 inches near the drivers door. Anyone know how to reconnect it? It looks like it should be simple enough to do without a trip to the shop, but I haven't figured it out. Thanks in advance!!
