I have a question that I think is new (couldn't find anything under search). Has anyone converted an H-pipe from standard length (to fit shorty headers) to short length (to fit long tube headers)? Or do you think it would be a fairly easy job for any decent muffler shop to handle?

Here's the situation. I am thinking about swapping my stock mid pipe. I want to get a mid pipe with high flow catalytic converters. But down the road I would like to go with long tube headers. I'm thinking that I'll hold off on the headers till I swap out the heads (much easier install, and I don't really have any need for LT headers on my stock car right now). But once I go with h/c/i, I could probably use LT.

So I'm wondering if I can get the mid pipe now, and have it cut and modified later for the LT headers.

BTW, I realize it would probably be cheaper to go with an off road mid pipe and either modify that, or simply replace it when I get the LT headers. But I really don't care to up the volume (nor deal with the smell) of an o/r mid pipe.

Any thoughts?

I had a local muffler shop do it, He charged me $30. All he had to do was cut it and flare it out.

Yeah I've done that. IMO it would have been better to get a new midpipe. It costed me $70, there is no mandrel bends now so it looks kinda kinked up. I could have too those $70, sold my xpipe for $50 easy and bought a new prochamber almost.
