Alright I just stopped my buddy from taking the air cleaner housing and sawing off the top half of it. His idea is to expose more of the conical filter to the air while retaining all the stock mounting clips. He seems to think that this is pretty much the same as cold air induction. I told him that he'll get maybe 1 horse out of it and a slightly different exhaust note. He thinks its good for 10 or so horse. Who's correct?

he'll most likely end up sucking in hot underhood air and losing power. the factory setup on our cars is already a cold air setup. i still don't understand people using open elements under the hood of their car, unless you absolutely have to.

he isnt gonna get 10 horses....maybe 1 like you said...and it wont be like a CAI....because with the top of the housing removed he will be sucking in warm engine air....it will sound better...but more than likley wont perform any better.....
