Coolant Bypass Line?

Older model 302 (carbed). A line on the end of the head (by firewall). Runs from one head to the other. In the middle of the line, it looks like another line came up towards the intake but it has been crimped and not hooked up. Is this line needed or can I block the holes on the heads.

It's for emissions not coolant.

Agreed, this is an emissions port. Probably some EGR lines. Exhaust will come out of those ports if not plugged.

Not for the egr but for the air pump. Had the same set up on my 82.
