I need some advice on how to do this. I have replaced heads, rear control arms, longtubes, and all sorts of other not fun stuff, but I have never drained my coolant. I noticed my overflow tank is really low, and the last time it was done was back in Dec of 2003 when I replaced the heads and other misc stuff including the ratty radiator. I forgot how to drain the coolant so I can get new stuff in. I know there is a drain on the radiator itself, but I remember my neighbor doing something on the block. Can you guys help me with the following questions?
1. Where all of the drain spots are so I can drain out the majority of the coolant
2. How much coolant to use.
3. If the system calls for 2 gallons of coolant, should I dump in a whole gallon, then a gallon of distilled water and let it mix itself in the block, or should I premix before putting it in
4. should I do a flush with that stuff from say Prestone where you add a small bottle of stuff, let it circulate for 10-15 minutes and then drain? Or just drain it all out and then fill it back up.
5. When finished, with the engine cold, fill coolant in radiator up, and then fill to the cold line in the overflow tank?

I feel like such a dumbass asking this since it should be common knowledge, but someone walked away with my Haynes Manual. I supposed I could go buy another one, but hey, this is what Stangnet is for right?

I'll give you a bump. I would find this helpful as I need to do this soon before the new heater core is installed.
