one last thing if you take the cap off the engine while hot make sure you use a rag around the cap and do it very slow to release the presure . you don't want to get hit with superheated coolant.

VERY CAREFULL! My dad was a mechanic and did it this way once. He used the rag to just release some pressure (overheating) and the entire radiator cap just blew off. He was burned bad and needed hospital.

you also could bring the used coolant back to where you bought the new coolant from. If not there are legal ways to get rid of it. I would not empty it down the drain.

so you're one of them.

no reach around for you .

does it need to be returned in a specific container? or would any plastic bottle suffice?

I used Preston "FLUSH" for the cooling system years ago on my Bronco II. I damaged the freeze plugs & the heater core. Careful..read instructions if you
use this stuff.

i didnt feel like reading all those posts, so im posting anyway even though this may be a repeat. anyway, be sure you drain the coolant in the block as well as from the radiator. theres a drain bolt that goes right up in the block, driver side, just above the oil pan. its an inverted hex/allen head bolt that leads right into a water jacket. its a pretty isolated bolt, so you shouldnt have trouble finding it.
