Just left the house.I get 1 mile down the road and I start smelling coolant. Then TONS of steam.I turn off and my cars steaming like crazy.I pop the hood and find that the small coolant hose that connects to the CTS has split in the middle like a damn sausage overcooked.I just replaced this a year ago.

So now since I'm near home I decide to start it up and coast down the road after I get going.Well now theres another problem.when I start the car...my voltage gauge goes up just a pinch past the L in NORMAL.And when I step on the gas the gauge starts twitching near the red marker.Wtf just happend? Why is my voltage overloading?

Damn it

Pic from phone attached.Sorry for chitty quality

Managed to get homeThe voltage regulator must be screwed up.The alternator continues to output after shutting the key off.And I had to turn several electrical devices on to load up the alternator otherwise it shot up too high.I hope the reg. is all that's bad.I just ordered one from the parts store for $43.

Mods..you can move this to the V6 tech section.I originally posted in here in hopes someone would reply right away.

Allready done. With the car running and nothing electrical turned on,17.4V at 750 RPM.I turn the headlights and rear defroster on it goes to 14.9 fluctuating.Step up the rpm to 1500 it goes to 18.2V.WAY too high.Has to be the regulator. Can't run it without risking a fried PCM.

Funny thing is,my alternator has gotten wet dozens of times. If I had hit a deep puddle and water gets in the bottom end of the alt.it makes a loud squeak and for a few seconds it's like the alt.isn't turning out any power.VM goes down, lights get dim..a few seonds later another loud squeak and it's back to normal.I checked this right when I got home.I hit it with a light water spray, getting the coolant off.Started it up and it squeaked loud just like any other time it gets wet.V was showing battery level, few seconds later it squeaked again but the voltage went back to going way too high.Whatever "slips" or squeaks in there,it's not slipping now,it's just putting out way too much.
