Coolant light...

Coolant light is on but there is coolant in the tank and the guage is between
O and R on NORMAL. Whatelse could be the problem?

thats exactly what is it. looks like a DANGER sign.lol but yea when i start the car within 20 seconds the light comes on. the coolant level is full. is there any sensor or anything else that might go bad?

my friend i hope it is that easy since i am in the same pickle as you. i thought toxic waste was seeping through my vents when i first saw the creepy looking warning light appear.

Hey Guys try this, when your car is cool take off your radiator cap and smack the little float around a few times. Sometimes they get stuck? I wish my problem was that easy but my light is on and I have coolant leaking everywhere.

Is your intake cracked? If you have an intake with the plastic coolant crossover then you have the same intake that was silent recalled for the '96 and '97s. But the '98s and '99s and even some '00s had the same defective intake. I had to replace my intake with one that has the aluminum crossover.

Mine has a real sticky float.....for some reason i free it up, and its crappy the next time i drive the car.....betcha thats the problem. Open the radiator cap (with the engine COLD of course) and stick your finger in there and work it up and down (kinda like prom night), and that will knock it loose. Good Luck!

Thanks for the suggestions, i will try "fingering" the float and see if that works. I have the intake with the aluminum crossover.

well it was hard for me to get my fingers inside the tank so i used a small stick to try to poke in there but i dont know if i was doing it right. i cant see down there so i dont know what to look for.

did u pull the codes ? maybe it's something else if ur not low in coolant and the sensor is not bad...

i had this same problem. I think the sensor in our mustangs are really sensitive. I did a search and found some really good stuff.

Speak of the devil... my coolant light came on today... right when I started the car... drove around the block, turned off checked everything... everything is fine, the coolant is a little dirty so I probably will flush it... but the light hasn't come on since...

I will go to autozone and have them pull the codes and see if something else shows up
