Coolant Over-flow Tank?

My MarkIII electric fan crapped out on me yesterday so I ended up scrounging up a new ( used ) one at the local salvage yard. The problem was I had to use one out of a 94 Cougar & because of the bigger size I was not able to re-install my OEM coolant overflow tank. If I leave it disconected will I have any problems? If so, I could try the yard again & maybe come up with a smaller tank that fits. If anyone has some advice in this matter I would appreciate it! Thanks...

you need a place for the over flow to go when the liquid expands(or you could have leaking problems).......i have seen people use little 20oz soda bottles...........if it isnt broke dont fix it.

or parts stores sell universal overflow tanks. i have one on another car and it works just fine. dont run w/o one!
