Coolant Overflow Question?? pic also

So my overflow tank that normally holds on by the radiator, decided it wasnt going to hold on anymore. Plastic screw holes broke.

Question is this. As seen in the pic below, can I just dump it and plumb my washer fluid reservoir to serve as my coolant overflow...as long as I clean it out real good. I dont use washer fluid anyways. Hose fitting on the bottom is the same size also and plus its nice and out of the way

Yeah you could...

It would be kind of hard to keep an eye on your fluid level.

You would also need to drill a hole in the cap or at the top of the bottle so the coolant can expand; in the case of a boil over. And so the air above the coolant can escape during plain old expansion and contraction.

Maybe try to rig something up where the air box was... the factory coolant tank does suck, I'd like to get one of those metal Canton ones myself.

You can use an aftermarket bottle if you'd like. Just make sure it's the recirculating tyle that draws coolant from the bottom and not a puke can that has the hose go in the top and catch overflow. You gotta top off the coolant in the rad after every cooldown cycle with those

Received mine yesterday. It is a very nice piece and accepts the factory low coolant sensor on my '93. Now I just need to figure out a clean way to mount it to my Griffin.

Using the washer fluid reservoir works fine. Be sure to disable the washer motor.

Fox III's have so much room that I'd rather put a dedicated overflow elsewhere (SN95 engine compartments are hurting worse for space, for example.).

Yeah, maybe up to a 1/2" if you can.

In my bottle it's tiny. 1/16" or so.

As long as it's not plugged it doesn't need to big big. The rate of expansion of coolant is not that great that the air can't flow through a tiny hole.
