Ok I've posted about this before but now I've been trying hard to find out what the problem is. I've got a coolant leak some where and I can't find it. Its a small leak causing me to add a coupld cups of coolant/water about once a month. The strange thing is the coolant low light will be on and then after the car warms up and idles a bit it will turn off. I've tried pretty much everthing I can think of to find the leak but can't. I've set down cardboard and let it idle for a while and searched the water pump looked for liquid/smoke out of the tailpipes and nothing. I'm thinking now it must be the head gasket but it was just supposedly replaced by ford the day b4 i bought the car 3 months ago. Ideas?

The level in the system expands when it gets hot. So if the low level sensor is being accurate, that could be why. Otherwise, clean the sensor's prongs.

The best way to track this down will be to use a cooling system pressure tester. This allows you to pump it up and have the car off, so you can listen and look around quietly.

Good luck.

I agree with HISSIN50, that would be the best way to go about finding the probelm.

I was leaking coolant and I went nearly insane trying to figure out where it was coming. One day, I popped the hood and there was a pin sized hole in one of the hoses. Replaced the hose and no more leak. I got lucky on that one. Good luck :nice:
