Coolant Temp Sending Unit on New PI Manifold

Hey guys,

I recently did the PI swap on my 97 GT due to the crack in the rear of the manifold, and now I'm getting a P0118 Engine Coolant Temp Circuit High Input. Buddy said I needed a coolant temp sending unit, and I was wondering that since there were 2 holes for sensors on the NPI manifolds and only one on the new PI manifold, how should I proceed with this? Is there a connector that would just join them together? Or do I actually need to drill a hole into the new manifold to use the second sensor?

I drilled a hole for the second sensor. I've forgotten the size tap you need but it's an NPT tap. Not easy to find in your local hardware stores. I borrowed one from a local performance shop. There is a freeze plug on the lower block that the sensor can fit into also.

use a 9/16 drill bit to start it then use a 3/8 NPT. It calls for a 19/32 but good luck finding that. I used 3/8 no biggie just take your time lining it up.

So this should take care of the code error when I install it? And the shaking when I put it into drive?

I assume it will take care of the code but as for the shaking that sounds different.

Does it shake only for a few seconds or continuous? Ac on or off make any diff?

It's a pretty steady shake at idle in first gear at red lights. Then it struggles to get up enough power to shift into second. It made a pop sound when I ran it the other day so I parked it.

Not sure about the ac making a difference I'll try that tomorrow.

Check for ignition wires that are rubbing against things. Overtime this can wear the wire coat down and cause the wire to arch which would make the engine misfire. My 95 sable did that.
