Coolest blue engine paint?

I used gray and love it

i use the duplicolor DE-1606 with their engine clear. looks awesome and should keep it from fading to the lighter color. i don't like the lighter ford blue at all, it almost looks like baby blue. ford motorsport used to have an even darker blue a long time ago called SVO dark blue, that was an awesome color but i don't know if it' still available though. might check the latest mo-spo catalog and see.

At the rate I'm making progress my engine will never turn again...........but it will make a good coffee table for someone.

Ford dark blue.............it's the only way to fly.

Sounds familiar :(

I used corporate dark blue too. Sometimes it looks lighter than other times, in person is about matches the anodized aluminum and spark plug wires (Ford Motorsport). Just posting these shots of the same motor to show how different the color can appear depending on lighting.

It is a Duplicolor rattle-can, do not remember the number. The short block was purchased from DSS, they cater to the 5.0 crowd so it had a professionally applied layer of Ford Corporate Black (LOL) on it. I degreased the crap outta it, masked it with aluminum tape, and shot it in my garage. The paint is a few years old but has not been sujected to corrosives or heat yet.

I've no presonal experience with them but I have heard bad things about clearcoats, they tend to get discolored themselves and make the aluminum stuff look bad.

I used a clearcoat on my intake, heads, oil pan, and pullies. In the back of my mind I knew about the possibility of it turnning yellow, but my cylinder heads looked worse with dirt stuck to them. The varnished gasoline from a leaky carb has done more damage to my intake's appearance than the paint so far. We'll see how it fares in the long run.

Heh I guess then you guys are going to tar and feather me then  My engine is Yellow, Black covers, and accented with chrome parts. Also have the yellow spark wires. I'll get some pics up soon.

My 65 coupe is Screaming yellow /w a black vinal top. Getting ready to get the new long block in, and I think its going to look ace in there :D

this may be overkill to some of you guys...but here the motor I painted for my dad.... it will match the exterior paint in a flat black bay...

Thats an old pic, it now has a chome powdercoated intake, acc brackets, tensioner and soon to be chrom pc valve covers.

I know that my engine may not hold a candle to all of yours as far as looks but it has won me a few car shows, and i am plenty proud of it.

This is just another view of the same engine, like I said this is nothing compared to the engines that I have seen on here but hey what can I say I am a college student with not a lot of cash I did what I could.

nice motor...i personally wouldnt have painted the heads since they are aluminium or the intake but that should be a pretty sweet little motor.

It makes for a good double take at the drag strip after ripping off a 7.40 because with all the engine accessories in place it looks "bone stock".

xox, what kind of paint is that?

its sonic blue... had it mixed at the paint store. Its a metallic so it has some reflectiveness in it..

some newer pics with some of the powdercoat work done.

Jester powdercoated the intake...could ahve been smoother but its a bad casting on the intake and I didnt waste time smoothing it... looks 1000x better than the nasty **** that it looked like
