Ok, 94 5.0
Over heats in about 10 minutes. Fan comes on. No heat coming from heat vents.
Upper radiator hose is hot, lower is cold.
Strange sound coming from right side of dash (heater?)

Anyone know what is up?

Thanks for any help

stuck thermostat, water pump. Low coolant. With the engine cold, open the cap to see the coolant level. Fill if needed, then start engine with the cap off. If you don't get visual confirmation of flow by the time the engine reaches operating temps (Should see something moving right away) then you have a weak or non-working pump, or a stuck thermostat. The pump sucks water from the bottom hose, into the engine and heater core.

Let us know how it goes.

but my bet is the t-stat

When the thermostat is stuck the upper hose is cold and the lower hose is hot, because the coolant is flowing through the by pass hose. I think the water pump is bad.
