Corbeau Seats?

I'm looking at a set of Corbeau TRS seats. They are 42" seats. I think I can get the set for under $350. I will need to get tracks then. This is where my question starts. Corbeau's site has adapters for $25 per piece or new brackets for $100 per piece.

What's the diff between the two once they're installed?

Any experience with TRS seats?

I believe that the 100$ brackets are the sliders. They sell the 25$ adapters in case you can't use the adapters from your stock seats.

So, the way I'm reading these replies, they don't look like you guys agree. I've got my stock seats with stock sliders. Will I be able to just buy the adapters? Or will I have to buy the $100 sliders as well? Is there any chance I'm going to have to buy both of them?

Also, does anyone have these in their fox? My concern is that I bought a set of 03 gt leather seats and put them in. They sat too high. My head rubbed the ceiling and my knees hit the steering wheel. I don't want the same problem with these seats. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe I can shed some light on this subject. I have Corbeau Sport Seats. When I first installed them I tried the adapters, but they put the seat too high. I called Corbeau and they said I need their special application brackets to get the same seat height as stock. I installed the seats with their brakets and they sit perfectly height wise now. So yes, if you want to keep the right placement of the new seats buy the brackets from them. IMHO.

FYI. I bought my seats 5 yrs ago and the drivers side seat frame broke. I called them, got a RMA #, FED Ex'd it to them and they repaired the seat frame for free. Lifetime warranty on frame. Only time will tell how long they last now, but I'm cool with trying it and if it doesn't last, I'm sure they will make me some kind of deal.

Any idea if the wide TRS will fit in a fox (width wise)? He's willing to deliver them tomorrow (Friday) and the only thing that's stopping my from buying them is concern about fit.

Sorry to bring a thread back from the dead, but I'm in trouble.

I bought the seats, and the sliders, so I've got some money invested in this deal now. The sliders are evidently the same for the driver and passenger side. One the passenger side, the slider fits perfectly. However, on the drivers side, the slider is hitting a bump in the transmission tunnel, so it's not seating correctly.

Glow, did you have this problem with your sliders? If so, what did you do about it? I checked the "bump" from underneath the car, and it *feels* like I could probably either cut it out, or hammer it down enough to fix the problem, but that seems like a pretty poor solution....

I remember when I first tried to install the brackets... I was like how are these flat pieces going to fit in a curved floor pan. I called them and they said to just start each nut/bolt and then draw each one down a little at a time so that they balance out evenly when torqued down.

I also remember my drivers side rear part pushing into the carpet on the tranny hump pretty good. When you slide the seat back it will bottom out against the hump/carpet.

It still slid back far enough though. I hope this helps.

Here she is. It's hitting in the brightly colored area just forward of the seatbelt on a hump in the side of the trans tunnel. There's even a penny for proof.

That bracket doesn't look like mine. My slider is all the way to the left and right edges of my brackets. I just went out and looked at mine. Mine does dig into the tranny carpet pretty good on the driver side, but its all hidden with the seat there. I'm not 100% certain that they sent you the right bracket.

Does your seat line up with the mounting holes on the slider?

Is the other bracket they sent you the same?

Are both labeled for 79-93 mustang?

You're right... I hadn't noticed that mine was different from your's. My deat does line up with the holes because I had the slider bolted onto the seat last night. The bolt holes in the slider also match the floor holes in the car.

Both brackets appear to be identical, and they both are labeled for 79-98 Mustangs.

I would go ahead and tighten each corner down making sure to do it evenly so it sits even.
See how it looks and then decide if you need to call Corbeau in the morning (pacific mtn time). That is the same part # as mine though.

You really want to have the seat attached to the bracket before mounting it in the car after you figure out if the bracket it right or not for sure. I just really remember calling them and saying this bracket doesn't fit, it doesn't even line up, but it did after i tightened each corner down a little at a time until it was all down to the floor.

Tip; use loctite and a star washer with the bolts that hold the seat to the bracket or you may be taking seat back out when the allen bolts loosen up later.

I told Corbeau about the problem. They didn't seem to have any idea about why it was happening. They offered to send me a 99-04 bracket. I'm ok with that, except that I know the 99-04 seats I put in my fox sat too high and I'm concerned the bracket he wants to send me might do the same thing. He did tell me that he thinks the only difference is that the 99-04 brackets are a litle narrower.

Any thoughts?

Don't give up, unless you have some oddity of a possessed Stang it should all fit.

I can't remember, did you assemble the tracks to the brackets or did they come together? Being that the seat lines up I'm sure the tracks are just on the bracket in that position for your seats.

So, this RMA thing, I didn't ask the guy when I had him on the phone, so do I just tape the box back up, write the RMA number on the box and hand it to the UPS guy?

That was actually the first thing I tried. They bolted to the seats using the bolts that used to hold my stock seats to the stock sliders. I bought the seats used with no bolts, and no bolts came with the sliders. It all matched up well, but it hit on the trans tunnel, so I couldn't bolt the seat down.

I actually reached under the car (car is too low for me to see under at the moment and I haven't jacked it up to check) and I can feel to bulge in the trans tunnel from underneath, so I'm thinking it must be more than insulation.

The brackets came assembled.
