Cougar 8.8" rear swap Q's....

I'm in the middle of a 2.3 to 5.0 swap right now but I have a got a question concerning the rear end. Will an 88 cougar 8.8" rear fit in an 89 stang? I know the rear has 10" drums and the brake lines connections are a little different other than that, Will it work?

It should be a pretty direct swap. Cougars were built on the fox platform so it is pretty much a mustang with a different body.

Cougar in '89 is no longer a FOX it is a MN-12 Chassis.

but the cougar was based on the fox platform until 88 if im not mistaken. and the cougar rearend he has is out of an 88 that is going in his 89 stang.

Sorry ..Sleep at the Wheel. I seen Cougar and was thinking a '88 Cougar rear to a '89 Cougar. Time for me to go to bed. LOL

The Cougar rear is wider but can't remember if it is .75" each side on a Drum car like the Disc cars or not.

Even if it is a little bit wider, it still should drop in to the fox shouldn't it?
