Some of you know my current situation.
I have a water pump bolt that broke off in the block right next to a water passage. It now leaks water between the block and timing cover. I'm planning on pulling the pump and cover and replacing both gaskets and the bolt, but in the meantime, a question:
Could oil be leaking into my coolant through the timing chain cover leak into the water passage?
I'm asking because on the underside of my rad. cap, there is a black oily sludge and a few specks of white (like you'd expect to see in a valve cover w/ a blown HG). My overflow reservoir also never drains back into the rad., and I'm assuming this is because of the leak and concurent loss of system pressure.
So, any guesses where this oily stuff is coming from?
The leak in the timing cover?
Thanks,
J
