couple exhaust header questions

1. is there a pattern to do when tightening them?
2. do i use lock tight?
3. and a tourqe setting when redoing headers?

4. how high should a 5.0 be if you are changing out / working on the exhaust?


i'm putting on new headers and relinning my exhuast. ford racing short headers, and bassani x pipe o/r and pipes.

IMO

#1 Not really
#2 No
#3 Not sure on ft lbs
#4 On the ground until you bolt h-pipe to headers then enough to get the h-pipe in and tightened

As far as the bolts, if you use whatever bolts they give you, be prepared to retighten them every few months. They don't always loosen up, but its quite frequent. To avoid this, you could always get the stage-8 locking header bolts. I believe Ford bought the license for them and summit is selling them under an FMS part number.

i used socket headed grade 8 stainless bolts. I used 1" due to the thickness of the JBA headers and have never had then work loose. Its been 4 years since the install.
