18x9 Chrome Saleens on all fours. 265/35 up front and 285/35 out back.(check out Mustangtuning.com for prices) Thought about going with 18x10.5 in the rears but when doing a comparision of 285's vs 295's when time to buy new tires scared me a little. Oh imo, it's still not gonna look right until you throw on some lowering springs and drop that baby... Check out "my grarage" for pics...
Sure you can, but I hear it is the max size tire(285) for a 9inch rim. Matter fact Mustangtuning mounted balanced and shipped my Saleens/tire combo(285/35/18s rear - 265/35/18s front. So if you want 285's on your rear, I'd keep the 9inch rims and save you $$$. A 295 and greater will require a 10.5inch rim. For pics of my rears, take a look at "my garage"
you can stretch larger tires on to smaller rims. it does affect the sidewall and footprint of the tire though. that is why the manufactures give the recomended range. usually if you actually mesure the tire it will not be as wide on a 9" rim as it is on a 10" rim. it may not be alot though as 285 on a 9" is only one size up from recomended. 295 would be more noticable streched on to the rim.. I tend to used the recomened range that way you know you are getting the full width of the tire you paid for.
In you case I would buy the 18x10's and run 295's. you will be happier with the width you get out if.
