Couple of Possible Upgrades...Need Some Links!

Im interested in the following over the next several months...would like some suggestions WITH links please.

1. Blingy (but good quality) C/C plates.

2. Lower Control arms (for sure, maybe uppers too)

3. Front Cobra Brake Conversion.

I found these Control arms on Ebay:

MM Chrome C/C plates

MM LCAs, adjustable and non-adjustable

Cobra brakes about 1/2 way down

I have the Cobra brakes, great for the money. Stopping power was night and day for me. Once Im out of college next May and start making real money I plan on replacing my suspension with all MM components. I have never heard a bad thing about them.

I've got some MM stuff and couldn't be happier. I've got some stiff springs, but after getting the front control arms replaced, the ride is not too harsh at all. My old front arms had very worn bushings. Perfect for a daily driver. The C/C plates have been great and in my case, they are absolutely quiet. Bilsteins are unreal.

I plan on getting MM's rear stuff by next February: PHB, Torque Arm, RLCAs, and the special torque arm springs.

I just put on the 40th anniversary Cobra brakes, front and rear, along with SS lines from Performance Parts, Inc. They've got calipers in black and red. The front kit and the rear kit included all parts and each kit was under $400.00. I left the stock GT master cylinder in place and the pedal feel is like an 03/04 Mach 1. Overall braking is many levels better than the stock stuff. If you've got stock brakes, go ahead and replace everything as they are about 11 years old now.

You'll be happy with what you've mentioned.

Unless you're gonna do some serious road racing and have the need to really fine tune your suspension, you should be fine with non-adjustable LCAs. Check out MMs site for a good write up.

you can go to partshopper here at stangnet, and i am pretty positive their lower control arms are built by MM, and if not they are the exact same design....

I like the UPR shark caster camber plates, they are billet and look nice.

On the brakes i don't know, but post up what you find, i think SSBC has a kit though.

$139 for all that? That's some cheap stuff. I guess it could work. I will say my buddy Dave bought the BBK stuff years ago and we broke them at an SCCA event in Homestead. Both uppers came apart in different sections of the metal. So the saying "you get way you pay for" can be inserted here. We put the Steeda stuff on it later and 6 years later no problem.

Hotchkis caster/camber plates are awesome and blingy. They DO NOT use steel bushings which I like. I'm changing to those later.

After doing so you will see that poly bushings in control arms are NOT a good idea for a street car due to suspenion bind.

Joe- When looking into caster camber plates I read a lot where the poly bushings used in plates like the hotchkis do was a BAD idea. It was VERY convincing and steered me clear of them. I will do my best to find the information for you.

Steeda LCA part#pn-5554601 get my vote.

Rob, I have steeda 4 bolt aluminum CC plates that I polished, and MAN do they shine. I thought I had pics of just the plates but I can't find them right now, but here's a pic of what they looked like installed...

As for LCA's, I suggest getting some with QUALITY spherical rod ends (Qa1 ends are pretty good). If they are a cheap spherical rod end the teflon will break and they will get noisy very quickly. I'd leave the uppers along for now. Adjustable control arms are good for setting the correct pinion angle.

I have also read that poly on top of the strut is not good. No personal experience with it though. Even with the stock strut design, it is not great - you dont want too high a durometer material up there.

Stay away from the Granatelli stuff, my friend had them on his 96 cobra and just driving around on the street the bushings tore and the bushing holes in the uppers egg shaped on him.

Ive always heard good stuff about UPR stuff. I have their billet c/c plates which look nice and I plan on buying control arms from them too. Not very expensive either. UPRproducts.com i think is the site, plus they are local to you.
