OK...so I am replacing my trans with a used Tremec 3550. Should i got with a Steel or Aluminum bellhousing? Also, I will be replacing the throwout bearing...is it the same on for the 3550 as it is for the t5? Last question is will the tail shaft seal for a t5 work on a 3550?

Thanks!!

Not sure about the tail shaft seal, but I installed a 3550 in my stang and I had to buy a new bell housing. Just in case you didn't know the shifter is completly different as well. I put and aluminum one in. They make a bell housing that is considered bullet proof. It just looks round. But it is a bitch to put in. Unless you got some serious horsepower going on don't worry about that bellhousing. Throwout bearing and clutch should work fine. Mine did.

Steel or aluminum really depends on how much power you run and how safe you want it to be. I decided to run a scattershield (which is really heavy) just for the piece of mind. When I upgrade my mods then I won't have to worry about the bell. Keep in mind, the scattershield requires a lot more work to put in than a regular aluminum beel. The throw out bearing and pilot bearing are the same but make sure you replace them while you are there.
