I am in the process of reassembling my 351 Cleveland in my 67 Coupe.

1. What is the proper location for attaching the negative battery cable so that it's properly grounded?

2. What is a good location for attaching the electric choke to a 12 volt source?

Thanks in advance.

the battery grounds to the block if i remember correctly. for the choke i used the ignition lead on the starter soleniod.

There should be a lug sticking out from the block on the passenger side, behind where the alternator hangs, with a threaded hole for attaching the ground.

The best place, and the place where the factory got power for the electric choke on later cars, is on the STA terminal of the alternator. Make sure you use a fuse.

Thanks for the info. That will help a lot.

the STA is the correct place since it does not have power when the car isnt running, but you can also use heater blower motor wire like i did. it is hot when the key is on. i never have the cars ignition on with it not running though. and yes you should be able to see where the ground goes from the above description on the passenger side. also, make sure you hook up your ground strap from the back of the head to the firewall so you have a good chassis ground!

One more question. I am trying to install an aftermarket temp guage also. It doesn't seem that you can use the stock sensor location. Am I wrong? Where is the crazy sensor supposed to go?

well, if your dash sensor doesnt work or you dont care if it works, u can use the stock location. u may need some kind of adapter fitting, but that is where it goes. into the top of the intake. some people who have a fitting on the top of there thermostat housing use it, but i wouldnt recommend using that spot since no water flows over it until after the thermostat opens.
