we've just discovered my sister's 98 GT has a cracked intake (went through a whole bottle of coolant in a week), so now shes faced with the replacement. so which intake is the best performer for a 98 auto stock GT? i was thinking the Bullit Intake, but wasnt sure if it would fit a 98. also, how much hp/tq can be had with just an intake on a stock auto? my sis is a little stumped by the whole thing, so im gonna be doing most of the research. we need to get this fixed asap. thanks for all the help.

The key words to search on in the title are "cracked intake". Unfortunately, too many threads on this topic. Good luck.

This should get you going...............

are you sure it's leaking on the intake manifold? the 98's should be reinforced. check around the coolant sensors on the front. mine was leaking coolant around both those.

i eventually got a PI intake manifold for the car and it woke up. get one for under 100 bucks used

Ford said they fixed it in '98, but whatever they did, was too little. Check this thread for voting on whose intake has cracked. 11 votes for '98s and that's before this thread. I'm glad my all plastic NPI intake is replaced with the aluminum PI version. Be nice to get a refund from Ford owning up to this problem on '98s, but IMO they'll never admit and do anything about it.

yep I just finished the PI intake swap....mine is a 99+ not sure the year but it doesn't have the aluminum cossover....got it for 75$ so can't complain.

Had to do the install twice but did it for under 200$ probably could of done it for less than 150$ but got stuff that I didn't need.....

Basically you just need to ask your self how much you want to spend and how involved you want to get....a PI intake can be done easily for under 2 bills...but it's not a perfect match so it can take some convincing and possibly headaches....(took me two installs to get it)...intstall is pretty simple..specially second time around.

Buliltt will cost you MUCH more...at least 1k and more if you buy it new.......and I don't think that will bolt on to the NPI heads...but not sure..might work just like the PI one does....

I say go for the PI swap....people are seeing nice gains.....I am heading to the track this weekend to see what I gained there...
