crank/machining help

alright, my crank rubbed against 2 main caps. the side of the counter weights is what mainly got damaged bad. can that part be reground like the rest of the crank can? (like the part where the bearings go on the crank Ex: going .010 on the crank/getting it polished)

i would imagine the crank counter weights basically loosing weight would throw the balance off. so would i need to get a new crank?

that would kinda suck, im gonna get a 347 crank in that case, and dang, would have to get it rebalanced o well.

Your thrust was out on your bearings and it wore the crank in order to fix it they will have to weld and re-machine it. That is not safe and most reputable machine shops will not let it be done. Get a new crank and caps and have it all machined up again. Usually when that happens its because of a convertor issue.

i knew i had a problem the first oil change b/c i had copper in the oil.
i did a no no b/c i had an old school person helping me and they said bolt the converter to the flywheel and stab the motor in. but for some reason it worked, some kind of way, i did have to spin it some so i guess i got it. i had the tranny rebuilt and a high stall ordered. the shop put it all in. 400 miles later it dies on me. the converter ground into the outside of the pump and the backside of the converter the clutches got so hot it burned the paint. the tranny guy said the converter was fried but the tranny was ok.
